Our source code repositories has migrated to Git

We migrated the source code repositories from Subversion to Git recently. Thanks to the HOW-TO, the commit logs in Subversion are all preserved.

Why we want to migrate them to Git? The main reason is speed. LXDE is a desktop environment with fast in mind, thus we need a fast SCM which can match our motto. For more information, please read “Why Git is better than X.”

For newcomers of Git, you can also read the git documentations on its website. I believe it is not too difficult to learn how to use it.

Please use the following command to get the source code:
git clone git://lxde.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/lxde/REPO_NAME
The REPO_NAME is the repository name, which is listed here.

In addition, I made this video during the migration to Git. Enjoy!

Recently, maces recommended us to install a mod that is very useful when you have a problem to ask in the forums.

When you find the best answer of all replies, you can check to the reply which the button is on the top-right side of the post.

However, though this mod is activated, we have 2 problems we encounter:

  • We are using PostgreSQL as our database, but the MOD has some SQL syntax that cannot suitable for it. Though I modified some syntax in order to make it usable, it may become unstable.
  • We have too many language files on this forum (All of the languages phpBB3 exists are installed), but the MOD has to modify the language file rather than copying into language directory. Users who sets the language other than English and Traditional Chinese (which I translated by myself) cannot read them normally.

If you want to help us out of the problems, feel free to post here in the forum.

Two Three new languages of the wiki.

Just now, Mario said that we have more people joining our translation project and asked me to set up 2 more languages of our wiki: Indonesian and Lithuanian.

And currently, we have 17 languages of the wiki in total. But we have to work harder because Wikipedia has 265 different languages.

Update: Another request – wiki in Swedish, has requested after setting up them, and I have done soon after then. Right now, there are 18 languages of the LXDE wiki.
